About Nor-Bu
Nor-Bu is Lodge No. 3- 427 of Sons of Norway, an international organization whose mission is to promote and preserve the heritage and culture of Norway and provide quality insurance and financial products to its members.
The lodge is located on the shores of Lake Telemark in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. It was organized on September 19, 1942, under the name of Norseman Lodge. In 1978 Norseman Lodge merged with Bondeungdomslaget (BUL), another organization of Norwegians in Lake Telemark, and took the name Nor-Bu Lodge. With the merger the lodge took over ownership of a log cabin, the BUL Cabin, which has since been the regular meeting place of the lodge. The cabin which dates back to 1930, has gone through several changes, and also was totally destroyed by fire in 1989. It was quickly rebuilt by its members and is again the proud home of Nor-Bu Lodge.
